As of 2016, there were $8.7 trillion in professionally managed sustainable portfolios, representing a 33% two year growth.2 ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Investing is clearly on the rise. This event is designed to align advisor practices with the rapidly growing ESG landscape, and will focus on the following:
ESG Marketing and Client Acquisition – How to brand yourself as an ESG expert and attract clients interested in ESG to your practice.
ESG Data – Exploring whether ESG integration adds alpha and/or reduces risk in portfolio design.

Barbara J. Krumsiek currently serves on the Board of Directors for Arabesque Asset Management, and is the former Chair, President, and CEO of Calvert Investments, Inc. In 2013, Ms. Krumsiek was recognized as one of Washington Business Journal’s Power 100, one of Washingtonian Magazine’s “Most Powerful Women,” and won the “Private Sector Woman of the Year” Award from Financial Women’s Association of New York. Prior to joining Calvert in 1997, Ms. Krumsiek served as Managing Director at Alliance Capital Management L.P. (now Alliance Bernstein Asset Management Company) in New York City.
Founding Director, United Nations Global Compact
Georg Kell is the founder and former Executive Director of the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest voluntary corporate sustainability initiative with over 9,000 corporate signatories in more than 160 countries.
As its founding Executive Director, Kell helped to establish the United Nations Global Compact as the foremost platform for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible and sustainable corporate policies and practices. In a career of more than 25 years at the United Nations, Kell also oversaw the conception and launch of the Global Compact’s sister initiatives on investment, the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), and on education, the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), together with the Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) initiative.
Mr. Kell started his career as a research fellow in engineering at the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology and Innovation in Berlin. He then worked as a financial analyst in various countries in Africa and Asia before joining the United Nations in 1987. A native of Germany, Kell holds advanced degrees in economics and engineering from the Technical University of Berlin.
Mr. Kell has received numerous recognitions and has been named among the “100 Most Influential in Business Ethics” every year since 2011.
BRUCE M. KAHN, PH.D.
Portfolio Manager – Sustainable Insight Capital Management
Bruce has over 26 years of relevant academic, environmental, and investment management experience. From 2008 – 2012, Bruce was a Director at Deutsche Asset Management where he served as an investment strategist conducting analytical research on sustainable investing. Bruce also managed a Sustainable Investment portfolio at Citi Smith Barney, across a broad mix of sectors including sustainability leaders, agri-business, clean tech and renewable energy companies.
Bruce is a Lecturer at Columbia University’s Earth Institute in the Sustainability Management Program and holds a PhD in Land Resources from University of Wisconsin, Madison. Bruce is a recipient of both a J. William Fulbright Scholarship and a National Science Foundation Fellowship in ecological economics and served in the United States Peace Corps in the Republic of Cameroon, (1989-1993).
Bruce currently serves as the Chair of the Finance Committee of the Robert and Patricia Switzer Foundation, previously served as Trustee of the Jesse Smith Noyes Foundation, and is a member of the Board of Visitors for the Gaylord Nelson Institute of Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
